The Sermon Series — Plus Bible Study Questions
The Sermon Series is the publication and commentary of several series of sermons by Rev. Dr. Richard A. Haynes. The Sermon Series provides an understanding of each subject that includes the original intent of the biblical writer and the meaning of the message. All sermons are based and focused on the scriptures. After each sermon, Bible study questions are included that can be used individually but are most effective if used in a group. The Bible study questions are specifically designed to form an intimate Christian community and help churches grow.
THE SERMON SERIES: VOLUME ONE — THE FUNDAMENTALS
Volume One begins with the Ten Commandments because they contain Jewish understandings that neither Jesus nor Christianity can do without. They are foun- dational to the fundamentals of faith that not only establish a relationship with the divine but also have a positive impact on the structure of human society. The importance of The Lord’s Prayer is how it reviews the major principles espoused by Jesus. Basically, the Lord’s Prayer was a summary of all that Jesus taught.
THE SERMON SERIES: VOLUME TWO — JESUS, THE CHRIST
The seventeen sermons in Volume Two attempts to summarize the essence of Jesus’s teachings. It includes the Parable of the Prodigal Son because it encapsulates Jesus’ basic theology. The second section focuses on parables that Jesus used. The third set reflects on seven of the over 300 questions that Jesus asked.
